Illuminated reticles come in two types: one with a bright dot for daytime and twilight use, ideal for quick target acquisition, and another with dimmable dots for optimal adjustment in low light, preventing target obscuration. Non-illuminated reticles are versatile and precise, suitable for good light conditions and offering advantages for competitive shooters with fine crosshairs that minimally obscure the target. They also aid in range estimation, providing valuable distance information through scales on the crosshairs.

Pertanto è ideale per un tiro preciso con la minima copertura possibile della preda. Infatti, con un ingrandimento 12x e una copertura di soli 0,55 cm a una distanza di 100 m si ha tutto sotto controllo e si riescono vedere bene anche i minimi dettagli. Il punto illuminato è estremamente luminoso e può quindi essere utilizzato anche per la caccia diurna. La luminosità del punto illuminato si presta a una regolazione estremamente fine, diventando ideale anche per la caccia notturna. Il reticolo si trova sul secondo piano dell’immagine del cannocchiale. Il reticolo è adatto all'uso in luce diurna solo con i moderni modelli di cannocchiali da puntamento.
